The necklace is done. It is long and thus, difficult to photograph.

Cinnamon and Honey Full view |
Here is another full view on a white background. You will notice that I opted not to use a clasp as the necklace is a bit over 30 inches long.

You have seen closeups of the focal, but not how I joined it to the chain. I used wire wrapped loops through the large hole satin honey beads. Here is a close up picture of the joinery:

In looking for wire and other beaded goodness today I discovered that I had previously bezeled another of this same strand of stones. I thought you might enjoy the side by side comparison. The color I used on this bezel is a rootbeer iris finish.

The finished product is, of course, just gorgeous! I like that you went with a simple chain, to focus the visual attention on the pendant and the empresses. The other bezel is very pretty, too -- whatcha going to do with that one? ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Bobbie. I have been wanting to make this chained style for a while, this was a good opportunity.
DeleteI do not know what I am going to do with the other bezeled jasper. I am going to tear out the other Cinnamon and Honey bezel.
Very cool to see the different bezel treatments and how they bring out different facets of the jasper. Thanks for sharing the tip about making a wire wrapped loop through the beads for a join. It is a all a lovely work of art.
ReplyDeleteI had forgotten I had even done another one of these stones. They look very different.
DeleteJoins are always a struggle. I broke a bead in the bezel doing the join so if you try this be sure to work gently and the curve of the loop must be large.
I am as excited to see this finished as I would be if it were from my own bead table! You've created a piece of art, and I'm sure it's a joy to wear!
ReplyDeleteIt was a joy to wear today.
DeleteI love this stone.
How beautiful! The finished necklace is gorgeous! I love the side-by-side comparison with the other jasper you re-found...completely different look...more understated but just as beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteThe stone does look completely different- the colors that pop are different.
Hi, wonderful colors! I like this combination with jasper. The necklace is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Germany

Thank you. I just added your blog to my RSS feed.
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous pieces and an Amazing work !
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteBeautiful beads! What are the colors used in the Empress beads?? They are so lovily. I hope you don't mind if I ask....
ReplyDelete:-)
I live in Japan but you will be surprised to know that hardly any of the many colors available in America are available here. I envy you color possibilities.
The beads used in the Empress Beads are at least 15 years old, but in all honesty, I think I bought them in the 1980's. They do not have dye lot numbers nor names.
DeleteWhen I started beading it was very difficult to buy beads- they just were not available. When I traveled I always looked for bead stores and stocked up. I also ordered from catalogs. I don't like to buy on-line or from catalogs because you are not assured of the accuracy of the color either because of the picture or your computer and monitor but sometimes you just have to take a risk. Find a seller and place a small order and then determine if it is worth investing more.
KJ - I cannot believe how long I've been off line. Time has a way of slipping by when one is preoccupied.
ReplyDeleteThe necklace turned out beautifully and I love that you chose to put this wonderful piece together with chain - makes it look light and breezy. I also love the fact that being a long necklace a clasp is not required - nothing is more convenient than slipping a necklace over one's head and not having to fight with a clasp that cannot be seen behind one's neck.
Thank you. The chain does make it lighter. I have been wanting a longer necklace- being short almost anything works for me; but I know taller women want longer necklaces.
