They Multiplied

Empress bead in cinnamon and honey
My Empress Beads have multiplied!  I thought I would use two for this necklace and I looked down on my work table and discovered I had three.  Now I need to make a fourth, I think.

Bezeled Jasper
I went for the jasper with the cinnamon.  I always want to save my best bits and pieces for the next masterwork. This time I decided there would be no next masterwork so I used the piece of jasper that I liked best.  Unfortunately, this bezel is just not working. It is just a tad to big.  I will either need to start over or decrease, and I am inclined to start over.

On the other hand I might just decide to get fancy and add some embellishments to the bezel which would hide any threads exposed by a decrease.

Stay tuned.

  1. Isn't it great when you're having so much fun making things that you lose track of how much you've made? Staying tuned for what you decide to do with the bezel...

    1. Honestly, I was shocked to see three of them, they were multiplying like dust bunnies.

I love those floral embellished bezels, but I think everyone I have seen was done on an embroidered bezel. Oh, it is only a small challenge.

And that is how all of my small projects get quickly out of hand.

  4. Uh oh, was there an Emperor bead lurking around somewhere? :D Not long ago my daughter bought her children each a hamster. She specifically told the person at the pet shop that they all had to be female hamsters. Everything was great until one morning she went to feed and change their water and, lo and behold, one of them had a litter of 14 baby hamsters. LOL

It is always great to have more beaded beads than one needs, it give us the opportunity to really play around with ideas.
I would much rather have an unexpected multiplication of beads than a bevy of baby hamsters. :D

    1. I was surprised, but not nearly as much as your daughter. Thank goodness my multiplication will be easier to take care of.

  5. I am loving these colors too! You are using the Satin Line of Delicas, I see. They too are my favorite, but know how easily they cut the thread, even Fireline! I've made a few rings to know this much about those beads :D what thread are you weaving? Are you having any difficulty with the Satins?

  6. These are not satin Delicas, they are actually vintage Czech beads. I bought several hanks of these back in the 1980's in this color, a deeper brown, and white. I love the look, but you are right, they cut the thread. There is not a lot of movement in places where I am using these beads so I think I will be safe. I gave up on nymo, much as I love its fluidity it just does not work for me. I use fireline. The only difficulty I had with these satins is that the sizes of the beads vary even more than Czech beads usually do.

  7. Being vintage is very cool!
What you describe as their characteristics is very much a Stain Bead from Miyuki. Sizes, shapes, sharp edges. The only difference would be the colors offered.
For me, knowing these are vintage make them very very special!

    1. They became vintage because of the number of years I have owned them, they were not vintage when I bought them. Books and beads, I hoard both.

  8. My components frequently either magically multiply (I suspect they mate at night!) or magically disappear. I find myself making more constantly. These are beautiful! I can see why you would want more!!!

    1. Glad to hear I am not alone. I haven't had the disappearing components yet, or maybe I did and just wiped that sad memory from my mind as being too painful.

      Thank you.
