Mistakes Were Made- Again!

You would think that once was enough, but I made the same mistake again.  I made both earrings face the same way.
Based on Bottled Bead tutorial by Nicole Hanna
It took me two weeks to finish the second earring; other things just kept getting in the way.  I was pretty near bending the last wire when it struck me that I had both earrings facing the same way.  The problem is that when I follow the tutorial for the second earring I do not stop to think that it should be facing in the opposite direction.  Have you ever done this?  Tutorials and wire weaving are certainly out of my comfort zone.

Earrings based on a tutorial by Nicole Hanna
Maybe I should make a second pair facing the opposite way and in that way obtain a two perfectly good sets of earrings?

Despite all that these did turn out lovely.  I still swear by Nicole Hanna's tutorials.

  2. Mistake aside, you do beautiful wirework! Yes, a pair facing the other way would work...or you can make these into two necklaces.

  3. Lovely! Great idea to make two of the opposite side -- and then send me one of the resulting pairs ;-) Your wirework really is beautiful and delicate!

  5. Wow!! Those are gorgeous. I think making the mirror image of something is very difficult. Every detail has to be flipped in your cad-program-computer brain, and it's really hard to get evert single thing flipped. Make two of the other side for sure. Those are so great you will be glad you have two pair. And if you are not, send on to me!!!

    1. LOL about sending them to you!

I have twice made earrings that are not a mirror image. It is because I am still at the stage of following a tutorial and I am not "thinking" about the design I am only considering the skills. Nonetheless, I am really enjoying this learning this new skill.

      Thanks Marsha

  6. They did indeed turn out lovely. Your wire work is splendid, beautifully done.
I like your idea of making a pair that face the other direction, that way you end up with 2 pair, one to keep and one to either gift or sell. :)

    1. Thank you for the compliment. As I keep saying, I am enjoying learning this new skill.

I don't know what I will do with the second pair. These are not quite OOAK as they are made from a tutorial so that might help my mindset.

My other current roadblock is that I just adopted a cat so I am not so sure she will let me not pay attention to her long enough to make something. She is a good distraction.

  7. Nice use of the passive voice. I love your adventures in wire work. And, yes, I've made two left earrings before, but I claim that i meant to do it. Yours are beautiful in any case.

    1. Ack. Google is eating my own comments on my own blog.

So, what I said before google gobbled up my reply was it has been so long since I wrote anything I don't recall what I even said. About 1 year ago I moved, bought a new home, and 6 months after that received a promotion to a new job. I have not had much time to be creative other than getting the house together.

Thanks for the kind words of appreciation.
